Why waivers matter

A posted waiver is a signal that a federally funded buyer could not source steel, iron, a manufactured product, or a construction material in the United States. If your mill, fabricator, or distributor can make that item, the comment window is the chance to keep the order domestic. If you are a city, DOT, or prime, the same notice tells you what just became legal to buy foreign — and what your competitors will bid.

What the desk note includes

  • Agency and product or item
  • Waiver type: proposed, approved, or denied (and open for comment)
  • Posted date and comment deadline when the notice has one
  • Project or recipient if the listing names it
  • A link to the official Made in America or FHWA notice
